Newtown Air Cadets Supported By Mid-Wales Housing Association

Mid-Wales Housing Association visited Newtown's Air Cadets in Park Lane recently to present a cheque for £200 towards the Squadron's funds.

The Air Cadets is a modern, dynamic, sustainable, air-minded youth organisation that offers fun and challenging opportunities to the young people and adult volunteers of Newtown and develops citizens with valuable skills for the future. Most of the activities and equipment, vehicles and their expenses are only achievable by fundraising and so the donation from Mid-Wales Housing Association was very gratefully received.

Ernie Carpener from Mid-Wales Housing is seen presenting the cheque to Dave Price the Squadron's Civilian Committee Chairman and Flight Lieutenant Steve Hopper at the Air Cadets building recently. Ernie explained to the cadets the valuable role that the Housing Association fulfils in providing homes for rent at an affordable cost. He also explained that Mid-Wales Housing is pleased to support the local community groups within its area of operation and wished the Newtown Air Cadets all the very best for the future.

Dave Price commented "It's not common knowledge that the running costs of the Air Cadets in Newtown relies heavily on private donations. We are currently trying to raise in the region of £20,000 for a replacement minibus and so the donation from the Housing Association is very warmly received."
