Mid-Wales Housing Group Helps Community Projects

Following on from the success of last year's community project day, all Mid-Wales Housing Association and Care & Repair in Powys employees volunteered their time again this year to help out charitable organisations and community projects around Powys and Ceredigion.

Over 50 members of staff between both organisations gave up their day to help out with the projects This year the group helped with a beach clean-up in Borth, making an early contribution to the All Wales Beach Clean initiative, a tidy-up and litter pick around two of the Mid-Wales Housing estates; a litter pick along the Montgomeryshire canal path; weeding, painting and planting-up flower boxes at Credu (Powys Carers) in Llandrindod Wells; knitting for charity and making bird boxes and bug hotels for distribution in the local community.

Mid-Wales Housing employees were pleased to learn that their time had made a real difference to the projects they were involved with and were delighted to receive positive feedback following the day including: "A huge thank you to the staff who helped at Borth beach and recovered 35 kgs of marine plastic pollution from everyone's environment. Beach cleaning is a double positive, not only do you get to protect the world in which you live, but you also affect everyone that sees you, talks to you and then you get to take that experience back home or to work and share it with friends, family and colleagues". Comments on Credu (Powys Carers) project included: "I would like to say a massive thank you to the Care & Repair team for helping and letting me be a part of your team. You have done amazingly".

Mr. Shane Perkins, Chief Executive of the Mid-Wales Housing Group, said: "being part of the community is something we value and it is important to us to engage with, and get involved in the areas in which we operate. Many charitable organisations and community projects work so hard to help others and we were delighted to make a small but positive contribution to each of the projects during the day".
