The Association is delighted to announce that four new Members have joined its Board of Management.
A broad advertising campaign for new Board Members was held at the end of September last year in which the Association sought to encourage wider diversity from people who were young, female, Welsh speaking as well as having knowledge of Development, Law and Accountancy, to help direct its strategy and business over the next few exciting years. In a separate campaign, Mid-Wales Housing tenants were also encouraged to apply to become Board Members.
The Association received 10 excellent applications and after an interview process, the Board of Management appointed Ms. Elenor Bonner-Evans, a senior lawyer with Ofgem, who has a farm in the Dyfi Valley; Mr. Tony Bowron, who has worked for 35 years at a senior level in the affordable housing sector; Ms. Joy Garfitt, who is the Assistant Director for Mental Health with Powys Teaching Health Board and former Head of Adult Social Care for Powys County Council and Mr. Daniel Lewis, a Business Intelligence Manager for Melin Homes and a trustee of Llamau, a charity supporting young homeless people and vulnerable women.
The Association also welcomes Mrs. Pamela Smith, a tenant from Llanidloes on to the Board as an observer.
Mr David O Evans, the Association's Chair, said: "In an increasingly complex business environment, Housing Associations must ensure their Boards have the right blend of skills to effectively manage and plan for the future. Our investors and Welsh Government rightly expect us to manage our affairs well, and the addition of these new Members demonstrates the Association's continuing high standard of governance".
